Colorado Gives Day, Non-profits, Harvard Gulch, Rosedale garden, DUG, Porter Hospital Foundation, Hospitality House, Swallow Hill, music, serviceAs the Holidays approach, many of us are busy purchasing gifts for friends and loved ones.  It is also the time of year when we may consider ways to brighten the lives of those in need.  We wanted to highlight a few Non-Profits in our Harvard Gulch neighborhood that work hard to make our Neighborhood a stronger community.

Rosedale Community Garden:  This lovely garden on Logan  Street is a part of the Denver Urban Garden system. The Rosedale Garden is one of the largest and oldest in Denver.  The Garden serves to create community in our neighborhood with many events, it  provides plots for the Waldorf school to support their teaching endeavors and many of the gardeners contribute produce to Project Angel Heart. To find out about getting a plot or neighborhood events go to www.rosedalegarden.org

Porter Hospital Foundation:  The Porter Foundation supports many amazing programs in Denver and in our neighborhood.  One of these is the Hospitality House, which is locate on 2379 S. High Street. Hospitality House functions as an out-of-town home for patients and their families to stay in while the patient is undergoing treatment - much like a Ronald McDonald House.  The Porter Foundation also supports a Hospice Center and Kids Alive, which provides support for children of parents with cancer. To learn more about the work Porter is doing in our community go to www.centura.org and check out the Foundation page.

Swallow Hill is well known in our neighborhood for their great concerts and music lessons, but did you know they also work  to bring music to those who are under resourced? Swallow Hill is the only organization providing formal music education in DenverÅ› low income preschools.  To learn about upcoming concerts or to find out how this great organization is helping our community, you can find information at www.swallowhillmusic.org

Are you going to shop online this Holiday season?  Why not make your money go further by using AmazonSmile?  AmazonSmile is operated by Amazon with all of the same products, pricing and shipping.  However, if you use AmazonSmile the AmazonSmile foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products to the charitable foundation of your choice.

Just a reminder:  Colorado Give Day is Tuesday, December 4th, 2018.  We wish you a Happy Holiday Season and look forward to seeing you in the New Year!
